The only blood type that has a mysterious code

In the world, there are only four main blood groups - I, II, III, and IV. But among them, special attention of scientists and medical professionals is drawn to a rare group with a unique and mysterious code - the Rh factor "Rh-null", or the so-called "golden blood".

This amazing blood group belongs to the Rhnull type - it completely lacks all 61 possible antigens of the Rhesus system. An astonishing fact: throughout the history of medical observations worldwide, fewer than 50 people with such blood have been discovered. This makes it a truly phenomenal occurrence in medicine.

The uniqueness of "golden blood" lies in its universality - it can be transfused to almost any person with a negative Rh factor. However, the paradox is that the Rhnull carriers themselves are in an extremely vulnerable position. In case they need a transfusion, finding a compatible donor is practically impossible - only blood from a person with the same rarest phenotype would be suitable.

The scientific community still does not have a comprehensive explanation for the Rhnull phenomenon. The prevailing theory links this phenomenon to a rare genetic mutation, which is more common among descendants of consanguineous marriages or in isolated populations. Some researchers, emphasizing the exceptionality of this blood, even call it "the blood of gods."

Currently, medical professionals worldwide are actively working to identify and register Rhnull carriers, creating a specialized database. This is critically important for saving lives in emergency situations. Nevertheless, the mystery of the origin of "golden blood" remains one of the most intriguing puzzles of modern hematology, attracting attention from both the scientific community and the general public.
