Why you dont get enough sleep even after 8 hours of rest: the reason has been found

Malocclusion can provoke snoring and dangerous breathing pauses during sleep, turning nighttime rest into a source of chronic fatigue. This warning was issued by specialists in the fields of dentistry and sleep medicine.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to "Gazeta.Ru," how freely air passes through the airways during sleep directly depends on the position of the jaw. Russian dentist Nodira Sarsadskikh explained: when the lower jaw is displaced backward or underdeveloped, the tongue "falls" deeper, narrowing the airway passage. The result is snoring and episodes of apnea — brief but potentially dangerous breathing pauses.

Foreign experts draw attention to an alarming signal that many tend to ignore: a person spends enough hours in bed, yet morning after morning wakes up feeling broken and unrested. Another characteristic sign is loud, persistent snoring.

Specialists clarify that breathing problems during sleep are not always exclusively related to malocclusion. Other factors include chronic nasal congestion, age-related tissue changes, lifestyle habits, and thyroid disorders.

For some patients, special dental mouthguards come to the rescue: they hold the lower jaw in the correct position and restore normal airflow. However, in severe forms of apnea, the primary treatment method remains CPAP therapy. Medical professionals strongly recommend that at the first suspicion of breathing disorders during sleep, one should consult a sleep specialist or an ENT doctor.
