Excessive love of sweets can lead to heart attacks and strokes — cardiologist Dmitry Orlov issued this serious warning, highlighting the hidden threats that excessive sugar consumption poses to the heart and blood vessels.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Lenta.ru, according to the specialist, years of sugar abuse deliver a powerful blow to the cardiovascular system. The Russian expert explained that a regular fondness for sweets triggers spikes in blood pressure and sets off the development of atherosclerosis and diabetes. The outcome can be extremely alarming — over the years, the risk of myocardial infarction or stroke increases manifold.

The doctor paid special attention to the fact that the threat comes far from only cakes, candies, and pastries. The real "sugar traps" turn out to be products that most people do not perceive as sweet at all. Among them are carbonated drinks, packaged juices, fruit yogurts, various sauces, and ready-made convenience foods.

However, the cardiologist does not insist on completely giving up sugar. Instead, he advises practicing reasonable moderation: giving up sugary drinks, reducing dessert portions, and replacing usual treats with fruits and nuts whenever possible. In the specialist's opinion, this simple approach can significantly reduce the strain on the cardiovascular system and protect against serious health problems.
