Spanish dietitian: melon should become an essential product in the summer diet for heart and blood vessel protection
Famous Spanish dietitian Marta Figueras made an important statement about the benefits of melon for human health. In an interview with the popular publication 20minutos, the expert strongly recommended including this juicy fruit in the daily summer diet for effective prevention of cardiovascular and other dangerous diseases.
"Melon contains adenosine - a substance that helps prevent blood clots, angina, and stroke. This product is a source of ascorbic acid and vitamin B, which helps relax the nervous system. All these benefits help the heart function better and protect it," explained Figueras.
In turn, specialists from the Barcelona Ophthalmological Center at the Catalan Institute of Retinal Health stated that melon reduces the risk of developing several vision problems, including cataracts, due to its high content of vitamin C. Additionally, cantaloupe melon is rich in beta-carotene - a substance that is beneficial for the prevention of asthma, the experts concluded.
