Renowned American cardiologist Nina Radford named the fish that best protects the heart and blood vessels. The specialist shared her recommendations in an interview with Parade.
As reported by TUT.AZ, the doctor highlighted salmon as one of the most valuable foods for the cardiovascular system. The secret lies in its high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids. These substances suppress inflammatory processes, improve the condition of blood vessel walls, and reduce the risk of blood clot formation. The cardiologist also noted that salmon significantly outperforms beef and pork due to its low content of saturated fats, an excess of which can deal a serious blow to health.
The specialist recommended including fish in the diet at least twice a week. The optimal portion size is about 100 grams. It is best to bake, boil, or steam the fish, while frying should be avoided.
According to the cardiologist, regular inclusion of salmon in the diet helps reduce the likelihood of heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and other serious cardiovascular diseases. Nina Radford emphasized that a balanced diet remains one of the key tools for maintaining a healthy heart for years to come.
