Hot drinks increase cancer risk: oncologist warns about the danger of scalding temperatures

Consuming drinks with temperatures above 65-70°C on a regular basis significantly increases the likelihood of developing esophageal and stomach cancers, warned oncologist Maria Chistyakova from the Center for Molecular Diagnostics CMD of the Sverdlovsk Federal Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.

This type of cancer is considered one of the most dangerous oncological diseases. The key risk factor is systematic damage to the mucous membrane of these organs, which occurs upon contact with scalding hot drinks, as well as with regular consumption of excessively salty and spicy food.

"Constant tissue trauma increases the likelihood of developing precancerous conditions, which over time can develop into esophageal cancer," the specialist explained in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru".

In addition, hard and poorly chewed food, abuse of alcoholic beverages, tobacco smoking, and chronic inflammatory processes in the esophagus also pose a danger, as they significantly increase the risk of cancer.
