Simple exercises will relieve headaches without medication, experts say

Special exercises can be an effective alternative to pills for headaches caused by spasms in the masticatory and temporal muscles. This method of fighting discomfort was revealed in a conversation with the TV channel "Moscow 24" by therapist, cardiologist, and candidate of medical sciences Tatiana Romanenko.

The specialist suggested a simple but effective exercise: you need to place one hand on the side of your head, put the second hand on top and apply light pressure. Stay in this position for about five seconds, then repeat the exercise several times with short intervals.

Another effective method, according to the doctor, is to place one hand on the forehead, slightly press down with the other hand from above, and tilt the head slightly forward. Romanenko also recommends self-massage of the neck and collar area. If the discomfort persists, it's worth drinking a glass of water, as dehydration may be the cause. However, the medic warns: if nausea, pulsation in the temples, or heart rhythm disturbances occur, you should seek medical help immediately.

Dentist-orthopedist Olesya Alborova, in a comment for "Gazeta.Ru," emphasized that headaches are often associated with disorders of the temporomandibular joint. Such a problem can be recognized by characteristic symptoms: pulsating pain in the temples, prolonged aching sensations, increased sensitivity to light and sounds, irritability, depressive state, and discomfort in the neck and shoulders.
