Expert reveals dangerous mistakes in storing toothbrushes that you never suspected
Well-known Spanish orthodontist Hanira Sanchez, in a conversation with the popular publication 20minutos, shared shocking information about two common misconceptions that can turn your toothbrush into a breeding ground for microbes.
"People think that a cap protects the toothbrush, whereas in reality, moisture trapped between the bristles promotes the growth of fungi and bacteria on them," warned Sanchez. For those who are not ready to completely abandon protective caps, the specialist recommends choosing ventilated models and putting them on only after the brush has completely dried.
The second serious mistake, according to the expert, is the improper placement of toothbrushes in the bathroom. Sanchez strongly recommends storing the glass with the toothbrush in a closed cabinet to protect it from harmful particles in the air, especially if there is a toilet nearby.
In conclusion of the interview, the dentist urged to abandon the common practice of storing several toothbrushes in one glass, as this leads to their mutual contamination.
