Spicy food - a secret weapon in the fight against excess weight: expert reveals the mechanism of fat burning
"Spicy foods indeed contribute to active weight loss thanks to a special substance - capsaicin. This component, found in peppers and other spicy products, directly affects fat deposits, triggering the process of burning them. In addition, capsaicin significantly improves the digestive system, stimulates gastric juice production and accelerates metabolism, which together helps form a slim figure," Olga Tarasova, Associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Pediatrics No. 2 at the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood of Pirogov University, shared with "Gazeta.Ru".
Consuming spicy food also has beneficial effects on blood circulation and strengthens the immune system.
"Spicy food warms the body from within, which leads to accelerated blood flow and dilation of blood vessels, normalizing blood pressure. Spicy products stimulate the release of adrenaline, increasing vigor, mood, emotional stability, and performance. All types of hot peppers are rich in vitamins and minerals that have a positive effect on human health. Vitamins A and C contained in spicy food are especially beneficial for vascular walls, significantly strengthening them," the specialist emphasized.
However, the expert warns that certain categories of people should refrain from consuming spicy food.
"People with gastritis and stomach ulcers in the acute stage, as well as those suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), are not recommended to consume spicy food. Capsaicin can increase inflammation of the mucous membrane and increase acidity, which will lead to a worsening condition. In cases of colitis and Crohn's disease, spicy products can also exacerbate inflammatory processes and worsen symptoms. Additionally, spicy food can cause allergic reactions or similar symptoms," concluded Tarasova.
