Zelensky revealed details of conversation with Trump

Zelensky and Trump held two phone conversations: ceasefire and possible sanctions against Russia were discussed

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to "RBC-Ukraine," the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky shared the content of the negotiations with the American leader during a briefing.

"I had two calls with President Trump today in different formats. The first call was dedicated to issues critically important for Ukraine. This is the ceasefire and other fundamental points that we discussed both in Istanbul and repeatedly before that," Zelensky said.

The second key issue was the United States' readiness to tighten sanctions pressure on Russia. The Ukrainian leader asked Trump to consider the possibility of applying additional sanctions if the Russian side does not support the cessation of military actions.

"Third, I asked him before his conversation with Putin not to make decisions about Ukraine without us. These are fundamental and very important things for us. We also agreed on further contact after his negotiations with Putin. Our conversation today was quite lengthy, I think more than an hour," the President of Ukraine shared.

During the second call, the leaders of European states joined the conversation between Zelensky and Trump: French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

"A thorough conversation took place, diverse in nature. As far as I understand, President Trump considers direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia a priority. This is his position, which he clearly indicated. We discussed this issue for a long time. In the end, he believes that the Russian side will send certain signals about their vision of a ceasefire and further steps," the head of the Ukrainian state concluded.
