The mayor of Manavgat, Niyazi Nefi Kara, has been arrested in the Turkish province of Antalya.
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Haber Global TV channel, Kara was detained on July 4 as part of a large-scale anti-corruption investigation related to bribery suspicions in the Manavgat municipality.
During the operation, law enforcement officers detained 25 more suspects allegedly involved in the corruption scheme.
Today, July 8, after reviewing the case materials, the court ruled to arrest Kara.
Notably, the mayor's deputy Mehmet Engin Tuter was also arrested, who was detained with a box of baklava, inside which a large sum of 110,000 euros in cash was found.
