Iran demands emergency UN Security Council meeting after Israeli strikes on its territory

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Iranian news agency IRNA, Tehran has made an official request for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

In its appeal, Iran insists on the immediate convening of the international body "to consider the scale of aggression and the threat to global peace and security, as well as to call the Zionist regime to full and effective accountability for its actions."

Recall that on the night of June 13, Israel announced the launch of the military operation "Am KeLavi" ("Nation, like a lion"), aimed at damaging Iran's nuclear and missile programs. During the operation, Israeli military launched a series of strikes on facilities in several settlements, including the capital Tehran and the city of Natanz. Among the targets were military bases, air defense systems, and residential complexes where, according to the Israeli side, representatives of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were stationed.
