Inmate in Brazil tried to escape from prison but got stuck in the wall

Failed escape: prisoner in Brazil got stuck in a hole he made in the wall

A curious incident occurred in the Brazilian prison of Rio Branco, where inmate Leandro da Silva found himself literally between freedom and imprisonment, reports Metro. The man had worked diligently for two days to create a passage in the concrete wall, using only improvised tools – a broom handle and an ordinary nail.

Vigilant prison guards, noticing strange activity in the cell, decided to check what was happening. As a result, they discovered the hapless fugitive in a very awkward position – the upper part of his body was already hanging outside, while his torso was firmly stuck in the narrow opening, which turned out to be not wide enough for a full-fledged escape.

Professional rescuers were needed to free the prisoner of his own plan. Firefighters who arrived at the scene conducted a delicate operation, carefully widening the hole in the concrete to extract the inmate without additional injuries.

"We conducted thorough work and were able to successfully free him," the firefighters commented.

After the rescue operation, da Silva received necessary medical assistance and was returned to his cell. The prison administration is now conducting an investigation, trying to determine how the inmate managed to obtain tools for his unsuccessful escape attempt.
