Ex-Pentagon Chief: Trump's Strike on Iran Will Inevitably Draw the US into Middle East Conflict
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to TASS, former Secretary of Defense and ex-Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Leon Panetta issued a stark warning regarding possible US military actions against Iran.
"If he attacks Iran, there is no doubt that the United States will find itself [drawn] into a regional war," Panetta said in an interview with CNN. The former head of the defense department emphasized that the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 was a "terrible mistake," and this historical lesson should be taken into account by the current administration.
Recall that earlier, the US President set strict timeframes for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear problem, giving Tehran no more than two weeks to resolve the crisis before possible use of military force by the United States.
