Ceasefire regime on the border territory between Thailand and Cambodia came into force after five days of military clashes.
The long-awaited truce between the two Asian states was officially announced by the head of the Malaysian government, Anwar Ibrahim. The agreement was the result of intense negotiations between Thailand's acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet, which took place in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
Recall that at the epicenter of the Thai-Cambodian confrontation is the disputed issue of ownership of the ancient temple of Preah Vihear, located on the border of the two countries, and the territories adjacent to it.
