Why Wi-Fi is dangerous at night: consequences for your phone

Wireless internet has become commonplace: most gadgets constantly hold onto Wi-Fi. But along with this, the question increasingly arises whether such a habit affects well-being and whether it makes sense to turn off the connection at night.

As TUT.AZ reports, novyny.live explained whether it makes sense to turn off Wi-Fi on your phone before sleep, and what benefits this might bring.

Smartphones and other devices in our home, constantly connected to the network, continuously generate electromagnetic radiation. It would seem that a simple solution is to turn off Wi-Fi, but then many functions requiring an internet connection stop working. Hence the dilemma arises - is it worth disconnecting the wireless connection on a mobile device before going to bed?

There are several compelling reasons why turning off Wi-Fi at night can be beneficial, and most of them are directly related to health and comfort. First of all, it reduces exposure to electromagnetic radiation, and also helps avoid the temptation to check your phone before sleep and not get distracted when you are already trying to fall asleep.

Some scientific studies link turning off Wi-Fi with reduced anxiety levels: sleep quality can significantly improve without constant notifications, vibrations, and other digital irritants that can disturb your rest.

In addition to health benefits, there is also a practical advantage - battery saving. Without an active Wi-Fi connection, the smartphone consumes energy much more slowly, which can positively affect the overall battery life, especially when it comes to older phone models.

It's also important to consider the security aspect: with certain settings, your phone can automatically connect to available networks while you sleep. Such unintentional "network travels" create a potential risk if the device connects to an insecure or malicious network. Turning off Wi-Fi before sleep completely eliminates this threat.

We remind you that attempts to save on electricity by turning off the Wi-Fi router at night can have the opposite effect. Specialists warn: this can worsen internet performance, lead to additional costs, and even create security gaps.
