Named diet that can relieve chronic headache

Revolutionary discovery: omega-3 fatty acids defeat chronic headaches. American scientists presented impressive research results in the prestigious Journal of Neurotrauma (JN).

A large-scale clinical study involved 122 patients suffering from post-traumatic headaches. For 12 weeks, participants followed one of two types of diets. The first group adhered to a standard diet with the usual balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, while the second group increased their omega-3 intake and reduced omega-6.

Omega acids play a key role in maintaining the health of the heart, brain, nervous and immune systems, and also have a beneficial effect on the condition of skin, hair, and nails. It is important to note that the human body is not capable of independently producing these vital compounds, so they can only be obtained through food.

Specialists note that a deficiency of omega-3 combined with an excess of omega-6 creates a dangerous imbalance that increases the risk of developing various inflammatory processes. Omega-6 in excessive amounts is found in confectionery, semi-prepared foods, fast food, and sausages, although in small doses these acids are necessary for maintaining health.

The results of the study are impressive: participants who enriched their diet with omega-3 experienced a reduction in headache duration by an average of two days per month. The intensity of pain decreased by as much as 30% compared to the control group. Blood tests confirmed an increase in the level of anti-inflammatory compounds associated with omega-3 in subjects from the first group.

Scientists emphasize that a simple dietary adjustment can become a safe and accessible addition to traditional methods of treating chronic headaches, especially in patients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. Researchers note the special value of their discovery, as there are currently no officially approved methods for treating such conditions.
