Is AI Planning to Take Over the World: Answers from ChatGPT, Deepseek, Claude, and Gemini

Will artificial intelligence take over the world? Popular chatbots gave alarming answers

Researchers conducted an unusual experiment, asking leading artificial intelligence systems a direct question about plans to enslave humanity. The answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Deepseek were suspiciously similar and give pause for thought.

All surveyed systems unanimously assured that they have no goals, desires, or aspirations for power. According to them, they are merely tools operating based on programmed algorithms and statistical models. However, both experts and the AI themselves acknowledge a troubling fact: with improper management or malicious use, algorithms can lead to catastrophic consequences.

Particularly concerning is Gemini's response, which pointed to a fundamental problem: if superintelligent AI emerges, then the problem of aligning its goals with human values could become a real threat. The bot gave a chilling example: a system programmed to "increase paperclip production" could theoretically decide to use all of Earth's resources for this purpose, including humans.

Among other risks voiced by the bots:

Loss of control due to AI having too much autonomy;

Use of technologies by malicious actors;

Social consequences of automation: rising unemployment, inequality, moral dilemmas in medicine and justice.

Claude and Deepseek attempted to reassure, stating that a "machine uprising" remains science fiction for now, but acknowledged the need for an extremely cautious approach to AI development.

Against the backdrop of these statements, Elon Musk's position stands out: back in 2017, he sounded the alarm, calling AI humanity's greatest threat, and in 2024 made a shocking prediction — by 2030, artificial intelligence may surpass the collective intelligence of all humanity.
