Doctor shared advice on the proper consumption of harmful products

Russian medical professionals make a breakthrough in dietetics: a new approach to nutrition without strict restrictions

According to fresh data released by Russian scientists, traditional notions about completely excluding "harmful" products from the diet may be reconsidered. Despite numerous scientific confirmations of the connection between consumption of such products and the development of serious diseases, including obesity and cancer, completely giving them up can damage other aspects of health.

"Any prohibition is stress for the body, and, consequently, many people begin to use food as a way to cope with emotions and psychological state," explains Anna Kitsieva, PhD in Medical Sciences, gastroenterologist and clinical nutritionist, expert at the International Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

The Russian specialist advocates for implementing the 80/20 system, according to which the main part of the diet should consist of healthy and balanced products, while the remaining fifth can include products for pleasure.

Among the key practical advice, the expert particularly notes the importance of planning meals several days in advance and the need to not leave home on an empty stomach to avoid impulsive fast food purchases.

"Try to include vegetables and greens in every meal. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. If you haven't eaten vegetables before, start with small portions and experiment with seasonings and cooking methods," emphasized the Russian nutritionist.

The specialist also emphasizes the importance of regular eating without long intervals to maintain energy balance and prevent overeating.
