Zelensky addressed the Pope

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with Pope Leo XIV

The head of the Ukrainian state announced this on his official Telegram channel.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine highly appreciates the Pontiff's position regarding the need to achieve a just and lasting peace. The President also assured Kyiv's readiness for constructive peace negotiations.

"Ukraine wants to end this war and is doing everything for this. We expect reciprocal steps from Russia," Zelensky noted in his message.

During the conversation, the Ukrainian leader also extended an official invitation to the Pope to visit Ukraine.
