Trump addressed Apple with an unexpected demand

Trump issues ultimatum to Apple: manufacture iPhones in the USA or pay 25% tariffs

Former US President Donald Trump has made a harsh demand to the technology giant Apple. He insists on moving the production of popular iPhone smartphones to American territory, threatening significant economic sanctions otherwise.

"I've been telling Tim Cook for a long time that iPhones sold in the USA should be manufactured right here - not in India or anywhere else. If this doesn't happen, Apple will be obligated to pay a tariff of at least 25%," Trump stated on his social network Truth Social.

According to Bloomberg, in the financial year that ended in March 2025, Apple produced iPhones worth about $14 billion in India, which is approximately 14% of the total production volume. Currently, India accounts for about 18% of the global output of these smartphones, while China's share exceeds 75%.
