US suspended preparations for the November G20 summit in South Africa
According to The Washington Post, citing sources in US President Donald Trump's administration, Washington has temporarily halted preparatory work for the upcoming G20 summit.
"The White House National Security Council has ordered US agencies and departments to suspend work with the G20 conference, which South Africa is scheduled to host this year," the publication states.
It is noted that this decision put an end to internal disagreements within the administration, where the feasibility of participating in an event requiring extensive interagency coordination and careful preparation had been actively discussed earlier.
Previously, Trump sharply criticized the South African authorities, accusing them of "genocide of white farmers."
"How can we be expected to go to South Africa for a very important G20 meeting when the main issue is land confiscation and genocide?" the American leader stated.
