The Taliban have begun mass closures of womens beauty salons in Kabul

In Kabul, the Taliban is conducting a large-scale campaign to close women's beauty salons

TUT.AZ reports this with reference to the Tolo news portal.

According to available information, hundreds of beauty salons have ceased their operations amid increasing restrictive measures against women. Eyewitnesses report that representatives of the radical movement systematically inspect buildings, identify beauty salons, and then either destroy the premises or confiscate all equipment.

These actions have led to a sharp deterioration in the economic situation of women employed in the beauty industry. Before the ban was introduced, about 60 thousand women worked in this field, many of whom were the main breadwinners in their families. Experts view what is happening as part of the Taliban's policy aimed at pushing women out of the public and economic sphere.

The portal quotes an opinion according to which the conservative policy of the movement completely deprives women of employment opportunities and participation in public life. "The state that the Taliban are trying to build does not provide a place for the presence and activities of women," sources claim.

It was previously reported that Afghan authorities have strengthened control over compliance with the law on virtue. The Taliban have forbidden women from appearing in public places with uncovered faces. In addition, they ordered that girls not be allowed to take entrance exams to higher education institutions.
