As Report informs, the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran has officially confirmed the information about the execution of the death sentence.

The execution took place this morning after the final approval of the sentence by the Supreme Court of Iran, which upheld the decision of the court of first instance.

Recall that on the morning of January 27, 2023, an armed attack occurred on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran. The attacker broke through the security post of the diplomatic mission and killed the head of security Orkhan Askerov with a Kalashnikov rifle. Two more embassy security officers, Vasif Tagiyev and Mahir Imanov, were injured while repelling the attack.

On January 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan evacuated embassy staff from Tehran, and the embassy's activities were suspended. In connection with the attack, the State Security Service of Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
