Ex-Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces sentenced to 17 years in prison for bribery and large-scale fraud
As reported by TASS, the 2nd Western District Military Court issued a severe sentence to the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Khalil Arslanov.
"The court found Arslanov Kh.A. guilty under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (large-scale fraud), Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale) and sentenced him to 17 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime penal colony," the verdict announced in the courtroom stated.
In addition to the lengthy prison term, the high-ranking military commander must pay a large fine equal to twice the amount of the bribe. The financial sanctions amounted to more than 24 million rubles (about 520,000 rubles - ed.).
