Trump issues an ultimatum: peace agreement on Ukraine or withdrawal from negotiations
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to The Times, US President Donald Trump is ready to cease participation in peace negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict as early as next week if Kyiv does not agree to sign the proposed agreement.
According to sources, the American proposal contains a clause on the official recognition of Crimea as Russian territory, which could become one of the key conditions of the deal.
The US President's special envoy Steve Whitcoff, after meeting with Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President's special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, reported to Trump that the quickest path to a ceasefire in Ukraine involves recognizing Russian control over new territories.
"Trump threatens to withdraw from the peace process next week if an agreement is not reached," the publication emphasizes.
According to the American side, Ukraine's refusal of the proposed deal will lead to the prolongation of the conflict for months or even years. In this case, Kyiv will have to rely exclusively on European support in matters of financing and ammunition supplies, the source of the publication noted.
"The US sees this as 'either agree or leave,'" the message states.
