Kremlin Proposes Leaders' Meeting in Moscow: Kyiv Considers it an Unrealistic Maneuver to Prolong the Conflict

As UNIAN reports, Ukrainian Presidential Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn stated that today's Kremlin proposal for a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia in Moscow does not correspond to reality and is effectively aimed at prolonging the military conflict.

According to Lytvyn, Putin is currently "simply dragging out the war and again proving that pressure is needed to force him into real diplomacy and peace."

Zelensky's advisor emphasized that at present, at least seven countries are ready to provide a venue for the leaders' meeting. "The only problem is that Putin himself doesn't want this. For now," noted Lytvyn.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, in his message on social network X commenting on Putin's statement today, clarified that Austria, the Holy See, Switzerland, Turkey, and three Gulf states are ready to host a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia. He emphasized the seriousness of these proposals and the Ukrainian President's readiness to meet with Putin at any time.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin set a condition that a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could only take place if the Ukrainian leader comes to Moscow. Similar proposals from Russia have been made before. In August, Zelensky already responded negatively to such an idea, stating that a meeting is possible, but "definitely not in Moscow."
