Sudden bee attack in France: dozens injured in the city of Aurillac
Residents of the French city of Aurillac in the Cantal department were subjected to an unexpected attack by a swarm of bees. This is reported by the BFMTV channel.
The shocking incident occurred last Sunday, July 6. The aggressive insects, for unknown reasons, began attacking citizens in broad daylight. The attack, which lasted several minutes, resulted in casualties - 24 people received stings, and three of them ended up in intensive care in serious condition.
Walid Loulidi, a representative of the Paris School of Beekeeping, commented on the situation, noting the unusual nature of such behavior for honey bees. According to the specialist, such aggression is more characteristic of wasps, while bees show aggression exclusively for self-defense purposes.
The expert put forward a theory that the insects that attacked people could be hybrids of various bee species from around the world. Such hybrids are often bred by beekeepers to increase honey productivity. Loulidi emphasized that in such artificially created populations, genetic anomalies can develop over time, which lead to increased aggression.
