Putin and Trump talks may last more than six hours
According to RBC, Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the upcoming negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will take "at least six to seven hours."
According to Peskov, the meeting will take place in several stages. First, the leaders will have a tête-à-tête conversation, then they will be joined by their aides. "Then there will be negotiations with delegations, possibly in the format of a working lunch," the press secretary said.
After the main part of the negotiations, "the leaders will separate for some time," and then they will speak at a joint press conference, Peskov clarified.
The Kremlin is optimistic and expects a "productive" conclusion to the summit, added the Russian president's representative.
Meanwhile, former US Marine Corps intelligence analyst and former UN Special Commission inspector for Iraq Scott Ritter expressed the opinion that the meeting could be shorter than expected. "I think the meeting will be very short because everything has already been agreed upon. Vladimir Putin has outlined the conditions under which a ceasefire is possible," he shared in a conversation with TASS.
Ritter recalled that Trump is also interested in a ceasefire: "A comprehensive peace settlement will come later - demilitarization, denazification, and so on. Donald Trump is not focused on that right now. His goal is specifically a ceasefire. And I think they will come to an agreement."
The meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, will take place on August 15 at the joint US Air Force and Army base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.
