Court rejects appeal of the son of the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, keeping him in custody
This is reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Russian media.
"The Sverdlovsk Regional Court considered the appeal of Shikhlinskiy and his defender against the decision of the court of first instance. After examining the case materials and hearing the positions of the parties, the court decided to leave the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg unchanged. Thus, M. Shikhlinskiy will remain in custody until September 14, 2025," the statement of the united press service of the regional courts says.
Note that earlier, on July 16, 2025, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg chose detention as a preventive measure for Shikhlinskiy. Investigative authorities charged him under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, related to the use of violence against a government official.
Recall that the incident that became the basis for the arrest of M. Shikhlinskiy occurred on July 1 near "Baku Plaza." On that day, FSB officers stopped a car driven by the son of the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora of Yekaterinburg, Shakhin Shikhlinskiy. At the court hearing, Mutvaly Shikhlinskiy stated that he did not notice the law enforcement officer who was to his right and expressed regret about what happened.
