Iran attacked an American base in a Persian Gulf country for the first time: an unprecedented geopolitical move
Iran's attack on an American military base in Qatar has created a historical precedent in international relations. According to Asia Times, for the first time in history, Iran has struck US facilities located on the territory of a member country of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Experts note that this bold move is an unambiguous and strategically calculated signal: US military presence can no longer be considered a reliable security shield for states in the region that provide their territory to American military forces.
Tehran has also officially announced an expansion of the list of facilities that are now considered legitimate targets for Iranian strikes in response to actions by Washington and Tel Aviv.
As reported by Press TV, on June 23, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched six ballistic missiles toward Qatar and one missile toward Iraqi territory, where American military forces are also stationed, during the military operation "Good News of Victory." Three of the launched missiles successfully hit the American air base on Qatar's territory.
