British woman Zara Lachlan conquered the Atlantic in a rowing boat, becoming the youngest person in history to cross the ocean alone from Europe to South America, covering an impressive 7,000 km, reports UPI.
This outstanding achievement earned her three Guinness World Records at once.
The 21-year-old brave traveler embarked on her incredible journey from Lagos, Portugal, and after 97 days, 10 hours, and 20 minutes, she docked at the shores of Cayenne, the capital of French Guiana. Thanks to this feat, Zara became not only the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean by rowing from continent to continent but also the youngest athlete and person to complete such a grand solo voyage.
Throughout the journey, Zara demonstrated incredible endurance, rowing at least 17 hours daily and allowing herself to rest only in short intervals not exceeding 90 minutes. Despite the harsh trials, she admitted that she expected to experience much more fear before this challenge.
"Such a test is not for everyone, but I am young and know that I can afford so little sleep," Zara shared her impressions of the unique journey.
