Honey may hide danger: expert debunked the myth about the "miracle product" and warned against heating it
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Gazeta.Ru, Russian expert Andrey Kondrakhin made an unexpected statement about the popular sweetener that makes us reconsider our habits.
According to the doctor, there is scientific evidence indicating that when strongly heated, honey can form compounds with potentially carcinogenic properties. Although a direct link to the development of cancer has not been established, these processes may present a certain risk. The specialist particularly emphasized that adding honey to hot tea is extremely undesirable — high temperature not only destroys most vitamins but also essentially turns the product into regular sugar with a predominance of fructose.
Kondrakhin recommends that people with diabetes exercise special caution when consuming honey. At the same time, the expert notes that sugar in moderate amounts is necessary for the body, especially in the first half of the day.
Kondrakhin also drew attention to the importance of controlling the total amount of sugar consumed. Interestingly, during active physical exercise, sugar is effectively used by muscle tissue and does not accumulate in the body.
Another sensational conclusion from the expert — the notion about honey's special healing properties has no scientific basis. According to the specialist, this product should be considered exclusively as a food resource, not as a medicine.
In conclusion, the doctor reminded about the natural purpose of honey — it serves as an energy source for bees to survive during the cold season. For humanity, honey historically remained the only available sweetener for a long time before other types of sugar appeared.
