The dentist warned about the danger of beach corn

A favorite summer treat — corn right off the cob — can lead to a visit to the dentist. Those with fillings, crowns, or dental bridges are particularly at risk. This warning was issued by Russian dentist Anastasia Savkina.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Gazeta.ru, when biting kernels off the cob, the load on the teeth is distributed extremely unevenly. This significantly increases the risk of microcracks, chipped fillings, and damage to prosthetic structures. Large fillings and dental bridges are in the greatest danger zone.

According to the specialist, people with restored teeth should give up the habit of gnawing on the cob and instead cut the kernels off with a knife and eat them with a fork. After the meal, the doctor strongly advises thoroughly cleaning the interdental spaces using dental floss, mouthwash, or a water flosser. In addition, the dentist reminded of the importance of preventive check-ups — at least once every six months.
