Donald Trump admitted that after telephone conversations with Vladimir Putin, he repeatedly felt the approach of a ceasefire in Ukraine. The American leader shared his impressions with journalists at a press conference, which was broadcast on the official White House YouTube channel.
"These were productive conversations, and about three times it seemed that we were very close to a ceasefire and, possibly, to establishing peace. And it seemed that all the necessary steps were about to be taken, but then the conflict flared up again," noted the US President.
Trump emphasized that the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine causes him aversion, and expressed disappointment with Russia's position on this issue.
