Trump said he found a buyer for TikTok: a group of very wealthy people

US President Donald Trump announced a potential buyer for the popular social network TikTok

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to BBC News, the White House head stated that there is a group of "very wealthy people" ready to acquire the popular platform. However, the names of potential buyers remain secret for now.

"I will tell you about this in about two weeks," Trump intrigued in a Sunday interview with Fox News.

According to the president, finalizing the deal will likely require approval from the Chinese side, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump believes, "will probably do it."

Recall that in April last year, the US Congress passed a law requiring the Chinese company ByteDance to sell the platform to an American company. If this requirement is not met, the social network will face a block in the United States from January 19, 2025.

American lawmakers justified their decision with concerns that TikTok could, at the request of Chinese authorities, transfer data of American users to the Chinese government, which poses a threat to national security. Representatives of the social network have repeatedly denied such a possibility.
