US President Donald Trump in an exclusive interview with Fox News revealed that he was informed in advance about Israel's planned strike on Iran, but firmly emphasized the absence of American participation in this military operation.
According to the White House head, Washington is now closely monitoring Tehran's possible response, and the US Armed Forces Central Command (CENTCOM) has been placed on high alert. Trump firmly stated that the United States is ready to defend both its own interests and Israel in case of an Iranian retaliatory strike.
"Iran cannot be allowed to get a nuclear bomb, and we hope for a return to the negotiating table. We'll see," Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin quotes the president's words. In his comment, Trump also mentioned the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials, she noted (in particular, Tehran reported that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, was killed).
Trump has spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu several times in recent days.
