The official @whitehouse page began operating on August 19 in the evening Eastern Time (overnight into Wednesday).
The debut post was a 27-second video highlighting US President Donald Trump's achievements, accompanied by the intriguing caption "America, we're back! How's it going, TikTok?". In the video, the American leader delivers inspiring words: "Every day I wake up determined to deliver a better life for people all across this country. I am your voice." According to Newsweek magazine, the publication created a real sensation, gathering more than 7,500 likes and 500 comments in just the first hour. By the morning of August 20, the White House account's audience exceeded 63,500 followers, and the three published videos collectively amassed an impressive 102,100 likes. The first video became especially popular with 44,500 likes and 12,600 comments.
"The Trump administration is committed to bringing the American people information about the President's historic accomplishments using as many platforms as possible," said White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt during a livestream on the platform dedicated to the account's launch. Reuters notes that the Republican actively used the social network during his election campaign. His TikTok page @realdonaldtrump has garnered more than 15 million followers.
