Dutch Defense Minister: Ukraine will not join NATO in the near future
As reported by TUT.AZ, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans in an interview with CNBC television spoke about the prospects of Ukraine joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
"To be realistic, Ukraine will not become a NATO member in the short term," said Brekelmans, dispelling hopes for the country's quick accession to the military bloc.
At the same time, he noted that the Netherlands would be happy to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a guest at the upcoming NATO summit on June 24-25 in The Hague.
No Ukraine-NATO meeting is planned as part of the summit. However, the alliance will hold a defense forum meeting, which Zelensky will be able to attend.
