Georgian Parliament tightens immigration legislation: foreigners will have to follow new rules

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Report, Georgian parliamentarians have developed a new package of laws that significantly changes the conditions for foreign citizens staying in the country. The executive secretary of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" Mamuka Mdinaradze told journalists about this.

According to him, the legislative initiative provides for amendments to the Criminal Code, including the introduction of a new type of punishment - expulsion of foreign citizens from Georgia with a subsequent ban on entry into the country for a certain period.

In addition, the bill proposes a significant increase in penalties for foreigners who violate the rules of stay in Georgia. Mdinaradze also emphasized that the procedure for expelling foreign citizens illegally staying in the country will be significantly simplified.
