Smuggling of 132 Labubu toys prevented in Turkey

Major smuggling of popular Labubu collectible toys intercepted at Istanbul airport

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Report, employees of the Turkish Ministry of Trade conducted a successful operation at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which resulted in preventing an attempt to illegally import 132 Labubu collectible toys. Two passengers were detained after undeclared goods were found in their luggage.

Note that Labubu is a brand of collectible plush monster toys created by Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung. The toys are sold exclusively in stores of the Chinese retail chain Pop Mart. Recently, they have been rapidly conquering the global market. 40% of Labubu toy buyers are citizens of foreign countries, and the manufacturing company is pushing out Western competitors in the market. Pop Mart's market capitalization, according to the latest data, has grown to approximately $41 billion. This is more than what well-known American toy manufacturers Mattel and Hasbro earned together.
