Historical record: the highest temperature in European history recorded in Turkey
As reported on July 26 by the newspaper Turkiye Today, citing the state meteorological service of Turkey, an incredible temperature record was set in the southeastern province of Sirnak.
"On Friday, a new historical temperature record was set in Europe: a temperature of +50.5 degrees was recorded in the southeastern province of Sirnak, Turkey," the article states.
According to meteorologists, this figure surpassed the previous European record when thermometers showed +48.8 degrees on the Italian island of Sicily in August 2021.
