Peskov commented on the correspondence between Trump and Medvedev

Kremlin calls for restraint in nuclear rhetoric amid exchange of statements between the US and Russia

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Russian media, the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Moscow prefers to avoid verbal exchanges with the United States on issues of nuclear threats. This statement was made in response to US President Donald Trump's words about his intention to send two nuclear submarines closer to Russia's borders following statements by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev.

"Russia is very attentive to the topic of nuclear non-proliferation, and we believe that everyone should be very careful with nuclear rhetoric," Peskov emphasized.

He also noted that the presence of American submarines on combat duty is a common practice and does not represent anything extraordinary.

In the context of the discussion that unfolded on social networks between Trump and Medvedev, the Kremlin representative reminded that in matters of Russia's foreign policy course, the position of President Vladimir Putin is decisive.

"The main thing, of course, is President Putin's position. In our country, foreign policy is formulated by the head of state - President Putin," said the Kremlin representative, answering a question about the possible reaction of the leadership to Medvedev's statements.

According to Peskov, the diversity of views among government representatives is a normal phenomenon for any state.

"There are people who are very, very tough-minded both in the US and in Europe - it has always been this way," he concluded.
