Trump's special envoy conducts shuttle diplomacy between the US and Russia

The visit of US President's special envoy Steven Witkoff to Russia is a classic example of shuttle diplomacy: the diplomat shuttles between the leaders of the two powers, delivering important messages from Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin and back.

As TUT.AZ reports with reference to TASS, this information was confirmed by the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

"It is exactly shuttle diplomacy, yes, these are the mediation services provided by the United States," Peskov explained in a conversation with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

"Of course, he is a special envoy," the Kremlin representative confirmed, answering a question about the transmission of messages between Putin and Trump through Witkoff.

Peskov noted that this format of communication was not chosen by accident, since in a personal conversation "it is always easier to explain all the nuances."

"Communication with Witkoff takes a lot of time, several hours. This is a good opportunity to specifically bring our position to the attention of the American side," emphasized the Kremlin representative.
