Named the meeting place of Putin and Trump in Alaska: Washington tried to avoid it

Historic meeting between Trump and Putin will take place at an American military base in Alaska

As reported by TUT.AZ, CNN channel, citing informed sources, reports on the selection of a venue for the upcoming summit of the leaders of the two powers.

"The organizers came to the conclusion that the only city in the vast state that could be a suitable location for the summit would be Anchorage. And only the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, located on the northern outskirts of the city, met the requirements for holding the historic meeting," CNN notes.

According to the channel's sources, the White House administration initially sought to avoid receiving the Russian delegation headed by Putin on the territory of a US military facility.

However, the choice was limited due to the peak tourist season in Alaska, which made it impossible to find alternative venues that would meet the level of the event.

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin is scheduled for Friday, August 15, in the city of Anchorage.
