"According to the president, Russia will ultimately prevail. It's just a question of timing," the publication quotes one of its informed sources.
At the same time, according to information from two other high-ranking officials, the restrictive measures against Moscow recently announced by Trump are a response to the Kremlin's alleged complete disregard for his peace initiatives to resolve the conflict.
The day before, the American leader announced his intention to impose harsh trade tariffs on Russian goods if an agreement on Ukraine is not reached within 50 days. In addition, Trump announced plans for NATO countries to purchase American weapons worth billions of dollars for subsequent transfer to Kyiv. In particular, this involves the supply of 17 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, which are planned to be sent to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
