BLACKOUT IN EUROPE: FOUR COUNTRIES FACED MASSIVE POWER OUTAGES
France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal found themselves at the epicenter of an energy collapse that paralyzed key infrastructure facilities. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Spanish publication Cadena SER, the situation in Spain has reached a critical point: railway communication throughout the country has completely stopped, including the metro, traffic lights are not functioning, and the operation of several airports has been disrupted. A catastrophic drop in electricity consumption has been recorded - from 25,184 megawatts to 12,425 megawatts, which means the loss of more than half of the power supply. The reasons for such a dramatic decrease remain a mystery, with official authorities maintaining silence so far.
In France, the energy crisis has manifested on a smaller scale - power outages mainly affected the Burgundy region.
Interestingly, shortly before these alarming events, a paradoxical phenomenon was observed in several European countries - electricity prices fell below zero. The cause was record electricity generation from German solar power plants. A similar phenomenon with negative electricity prices was also recorded in the Netherlands and Belgium.
