It has become known what the US wants to get from Russia as part of a peace deal

As part of a new peace agreement, the US will demand that Russia recognize Ukraine's right to maintain its own armed forces and defense industry.

As reported by TUT.AZ, this information was published by Bloomberg agency, citing informed sources.

According to the obtained data, US Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff intends to discuss this issue at an upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The visit of the American diplomat to Moscow was previously announced by Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov. According to Axios, the meeting could take place as early as April 25.

Bloomberg emphasizes that Washington's position on preserving Kyiv's right to a full-fledged army contradicts Moscow's previously stated demands. If Putin agrees to this condition, he will have to abandon the declared goal of demilitarizing Ukraine.

This requirement indicates the Trump administration's intention to secure concessions not only from the Ukrainian side but also from Russia. Until now, critics have viewed the American plan as primarily serving Russian interests, especially due to the requirement for Ukraine to abandon NATO membership, Bloomberg notes.

According to agency sources, as part of the peace agreement, Washington also insists on returning the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to Kyiv's control. According to the American plan, the plant should subsequently be transferred under US management to ensure energy supply to both conflicting parties.

The United States also expects the return to Ukraine of territories in the Kharkiv region that came under Russian control, and ensuring Kyiv's access to the Dnipro River, which runs along the line of contact. Bloomberg sources note that the details of the agreement have not yet been finalized and may be adjusted.

The content of Washington's conflict settlement plan has not been officially disclosed. Earlier, Bloomberg reported that as part of the peace agreement, the US proposed leaving all territories that came under Russian control with Russia. According to The Wall Street Journal, the American plan also includes a clause recognizing Crimea as Russian territory.
