Doctor named amusement rides that can cause cardiac arrest

A cardiologist has warned that a number of popular amusement rides may pose a serious threat to people suffering from heart and vascular diseases.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Russian media, top-category cardiologist Valentina Kozik explained which types of entertainment place the greatest strain on the cardiovascular system. First and foremost, these include roller coasters, extreme spinning rides with sharp rotations, and water slides with free-fall drops. According to the specialist, such attractions trigger sudden blood pressure fluctuations, which can result in a hypertensive crisis, heart attack, or stroke in people at risk.

The expert emphasized that such entertainment is strictly contraindicated for patients with ischemic heart disease, severe hypertension, as well as those who have previously suffered a heart attack or stroke. Warning signs that should prompt an immediate refusal to ride include dizziness, nausea, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and pronounced anxiety.

In addition, the doctor drew attention to the fact that even visiting "haunted houses" can trigger a powerful release of stress hormones, which in people with cardiovascular diseases may lead to a sharp spike in blood pressure and heart rhythm disturbances. In such cases, it is better to opt for calmer forms of recreation.
