The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has begun a ground operation to establish control over Gaza, having already occupied the outskirts of the city.
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Jerusalem Post, this information was confirmed by IDF representative Brigadier General Effi Defrin.
He noted that the Israeli Ministry of Defense plans to additionally mobilize about 60,000 reservists, who will receive draft notices during the current week. Defrin also specified that another 20,000 notices will be sent later in August.
The general emphasized that the IDF is making efforts to ensure the safe evacuation of Gaza residents, as well as to provide them with humanitarian aid and medical services.
Earlier, according to information from the Israeli Prime Minister's office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave instructions to accelerate the elimination of the last strongholds of radicals in the Gaza Strip and the defeat of the Palestinian Hamas movement before approving plans to capture Gaza City.
